G3 Stuck on AT&T Logo on Boot Up

My wife's phone is stuck on the AT&T screen when booting. I am able to get into download mode, but am unsure of what to do next. I've downloaded the PC Suite and Mobile Support Tool (which seems to be more recent) from LG but in both cases when I do the update recovery I can't get it to work. The phone is totally stock, no root or anything, and as far as I know had the latest updates.

Can anyone help me bring the phone back from the dead?

Enable Global GSM on G4 Sprint (LS991) without ROOTING

I just tried a few trick that all member in here post, and rewrite it in easy step.

For someone who own LG G4 LS991 SPRINT network which is only CDMA and want to make it work on global network whether it is GSM/LTE/CDMA, ... all work.

- No Need to ROOT your phone
1- Connect your phone to PC and transfer the International ROM found in link below, direct under your phone INTERNAL STORAGE
*** ZV6 ROM
*** ZV9 ROM
2- Shut Down you phone
3- Start download mode (Hold Volum Up button and Plug USB cable)
4- Run LGUP re-flashing your current ROM Version (same rom of your current running one) ZV6, ZV9... whatever
5- Look at the progress % bar, when it reach 9%, unplug the usb cable and close the LGUP software
6- Your phone will stay in DOWNLOAD Mode with GREEN TEXT show COM##
7- Run sendcommand tool with specific COM## shown on your mobile screen
8- Run dd command to replace the ROM image you saved inside your INTERNAL STORAGE into your mobile system as instructed in step 1- LINK
9- Wait under the replacing done and you will see the hash tag # appear on the new line
10- type LEAVE to exit your download mode and restart the phone

Cheer, that's done you phone is loading with ROOTED International Network enabled.

If you have your phone done, please simply click THANK....

Also thank to all XDA Developer member for all the reference included in this thread.

Laptop won't recognize note 4 after cm13 install

So i've successfully performed the retail to developer miracle on my note 4 and installed twrp and cm13. But now when I plug my note 4 to my computer it doesn't recognize the phone, no folder pops open, adb doesnt work, odin doesnt read the phone, no message on the phone for debug or anything. when i look at device manager , theres 2 usb host controllers with errors (code 43), uninstalling them/updating/rebooting all do nothing, each time the phone is plugged in the drivers fail. Everything had worked fine during the exploit process, adb, odin, copying files onto the phones sd card. I've since tried to reinstall the samsung drivers, restore the pc to an ealier restore point, tried different ports and cables all to no avail. Im going to flash a TW rom to see if that has anything to do with it. I'll have to load it onto my sd card. My concern is when I'll need odin again. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if anyone can shed some light.

REVIEW Poetic Affinity Clear Case

Hey XDA, I've used this case for a few days and here is my review:

The Packaging:
The case comes packaged in a clear plastic bag for simple presentation. While nothing fancy, it does the job and keeps the case more affordable. Poetic also gives a 3 year warranty now. I think that's cool!

The Look & Feel:
This is a very nice looking clear case. The black lines on the back of the case aren't just for looks, they also serve a purpose. Not only do they add nicely to the aesthetics, they also are rubberized so they add grip. Grip for both while you are holding the phone and while it sits on a desk to prevent sliding. Those lines extend out to each corner of the case and there is an indention in the black rubberized plastic. Along the right and left side of the case, there are slanted lines that protrude from the black plastic. I wanted to point out that the plastic on the sides is black and not clear like on previous Affinity cases that I've had. I think it's a very nice touch as it plays into the stealth them of my black S7 Edge. To finish things off, there is company branding. There is the Poetic brand "P" logo on the back center of the case, and the "Poetic" brand name on the bottom back side on the black rubberized plastic material. All of them aren't very intrusive at all. What's even better is Poetic ditched the "Affinity" etching on the side of the case that showed up on previous Affinity models. I really like the decision as it keeps the case cleaner looking.

As far as feel goes, this case with the phone in it feels great to hold in the hand. The slanted protruded lines and rubberized plastic keep it feeling nice and grippy in the hand. The only knock I have on the feel are the buttons. They are a little hard to press and don't have a lot of feedback. Definitely not a deal breaker and it has become easier as the case is breaking in.

The Protection:
On the protection front, I would say it is medium duty grade. It is thin enough to not get in the way and look nice, but has the corner protection and slightly rugged feel to offer protection to everyday knocks and small drops. While it's definitely not in the heavy duty protection category, I feel safe with this case on. I never test drop protection in my reviews because my phones are personal phones paid for with my own money, so I can't take that risk. The hard polycarbonate plastic on the back and the solid construction definitely make this case a heavy hitter in the medium duty grade tier of cases.

The Build:
To keep this pretty simple, this is a well made case with a small hiccup as I mentioned earlier. The case feels good and substantial enough to be completely confident in it. The small hiccup that I've noticed are that the buttons aren't the easiest things in the world to press. It's not terrible, but it will take a little bit of force to generate the press. Overall, not a deal breaker by any means, but I wanted to mention it. And as I said earlier, they seemed to have loosened up a bit with more usage.

What I Like:
The build quality
The looks
The protection from everyday life
The price

What I Don't Like:
The buttons

The Verdict:
Overall, this case is a win. It is well made, should protect a decent amount, and has the looks to match. And all at a reasonable price. Other than a minor issue, I have no problem recommending this case to anyone in the market for a thin protective case that will protect your expensive phone.

The Score:
9/10

Where to Buy:

The only one that is greyed out in Odin 3 v.3.10.7 is UMS so they can all be flashed except HOME. Thanks for any help. P.S. It was a lot easier to flash in the earlier days when it was just a single zip file that you flashed in Odin.

Super virus?

I need to find the correct forum to post an issue I'm having with a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime (G360T1UVU1AOFA). Could be a general question, who knows. Long story short a customers device had some form of virus labeled with "the FBI" lol so I took the phone figuring I could fix it and return it to him. I flashed the stock rom to the phone via ODIN. it passed and was a success. The reason I didn't try a master reset first was the customer did not know his Gmail PW required to set up the phone after reset. After the flash the device booted like a brand new phone, apps got optimized all that good stuff. Made it through the initial setup WITHOUT requiring the Gmail. About 30 seconds after getting to home screen the virus pop up came back asking for exactly (no tax) 500$ to unlock. Ok awesome... So I then master reset the phone thinking the stock rom that was flashed would have reset the device. Nope. It required me to input the original Gmail used to setup the device. I'm willing to bet an unlocked Samsung bootloader that the virus is still there even after the master reset. What can I do to RESET this phone? I thought a flash was a complete reinstall.

Revert CID after unlock

Has there been any method to revert the CID back to the old number after an unlocking of the BL? Would that lock it again? Or its it always locked? I understand that Knox is tripped but I don't care about Knox.

I saw on another post someone changed theirs back. Possible?

Could VZW decide to block this number like they do to foxfi on a regular basis?

Also does this have the possibility of ending my unlimited data as this removes the carrier branding if you load cm13? Keeping unlimited is more important than root. I'm tempted to unlock without the Sim card in...

Ideas?

[Guide] Safe bootloader unlock restore DRM custom recovery root bootloader relock

** DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A DEV AND THIS IS MY HOBBY. I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY IF THIS BREAKS YOUR DEVICE **

I am not taking credit for any of the tools and kernels here. They are all developed by others. I am only telling you how to use them.
Credits: @zxz0O0

0- Prerequisites
1- How to unlock your bootloader without losing the DRM keys
2- How to retrieve DRM key after unlocking the bootloader.
3- How to flash a custom or stock kernel
4- How to flash recovery
5- How to root
6- How to relock bootloader and return it to original factory state

The following is tested on model SPG-771. For Wifi only you should modify these instructions accordingly. Do not flash the ftf files posted here on a Wifi model.

0- Prerequisites

You need to have a functioning installation of adb and fastboot tools. You need to have proper Sony drivers installed on your PC to detect your tablet when it is connected to the PC. You should be able to flash an ftf file using flashtool. If any of these sound unfamiliar to you, stop reading, go learn about these and them come back.

1- How to unlock your bootloader without losing the DRM keys

Sony has designed this tablet such that if you unlock your bootloader you lose your TA partition PERMANENTLY which includes some of the Xperia features and licenses that have to do with image processing etc. forever. You will also no longer receive OTAs. So in theory, without a copy of this TA partition (which is unique to each tablet and cannot be copied over from another tablet) unlocking the bootloader result in an irreversible loss of some of your tablet's features. Relocking the bootloader will not bring them back.
A hack exists that allows you to backup the TA partition before you unlock the bootloader. This backup will make the process completely reversible so if you ever need to send the tablet to Sony for repair or just want to return it to its original state you have a way. Follow these instructions carefully:
1.0- Before you begin keep in mind that this procedure, especially the unlocking step, completely erases your tablet. Disable myXperia and remove your google account before proceeding.
1.1- Start by clean flashing any 28.0.A.8.260 firmware, For this tutorial I used SGP771_Customized HK_1296-4830_28.0.A.8.260_R10A.
1.2- Enter service Mode *#*#7378423#*#* -> Service info -> configuration, and make sure the device is unlockable.
Also check -> Service Tests -> Security and you will see a bunch of "active" and "OK" attributes. You can take screenshots for your reference.
1.3- Turn on usb debugging mode on your tablet.
1.4- Download iovyroot zip v0.4 or higher from here.
1.5- Unzip this zip file into a folder of your choice and open a command terminal there.
1.6- Connect the tablet which is now in USB debugging mode to your PC. and answer yes when it asks to authorize the PC to access the tablet in US?B debugging mode. You can check that the PC indeed sees the tablet by running this command
Code:

adb devices
1.7- Run the following command:
Code:

tabackup
1.8- VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure the command completes with no errors. If all goes well you will have a file with a name like TA-07102015.img (the name may be different for you) with size of 2MB in your folder.
1.9- Save this file in a very safe place. Save it on your hard disk, AND email it to yourself, AND put it on your google drive. If you lose this file you can never reverse the boot unlocking process.
1.10- Reboot the device.
1.11- Now you can unlock the bootloader. Follow the instructions at Sony's official website at http://ift.tt/1kslRIw Also save your unlock code that you obtain in this step somewhere. You may need it some day.
1.12- Reboot the device and it will briefly enter recovery and then start the tablet initial setup.
1.13- (Optional) you can easily verify that your bootloader is unlocked by entering the fastboot mode, obtaining any boot image, and running the following command to boot your tablet with that image:
Code:

fastboot boot boot.img
1.14- (Optional) you can see that the DRM keys are erased from your tablet by repeating step 1.2 but this time you will see a bunch of errors under Service Tests -> Security.
1.15- As a side effect of unlocking the bootloader you lose the ability to receive OTA updates. Proceed to flash a Marshmallow ftf. For this tutorial I used SGP771_Customized DE_1295-6955_32.1.A.1.185_R4C (latest at the time of this writing)

Can I downgrade my S5 from Lollipop 5.1.1 to Kitkat?

So I had to finally use my warranty for my S5 with Tmobile. I have the replacement but it came with Lollipop 5.1.1 and not Kitkat. I've started using Lollipop and it's a nightmare. I absolutely hate it and many of my apps are incompatible. I am a bit new to this but am well aware Samsung has pretty lousy performance with S5 and lollipop.

Knowing this, is there an efficient and safe way to downgrade without tripping knox? I did some googling but find more information on 5.0 Lollipop than 5.1.1. I'm surprised S5's got that update.

test Kernel results are a bit promising! :)

My ROM development has been on pause for a while because I've been learning how to destroy my phone by screwing with the kernel.
Sometimes I've had a win (YAY!) but sometimes a massive lose (I even had to throw it in the thing in the bathroom sink with the cold water running because it was so hot! and NO! it WASN'T the fast one in the screenshots!)..
I'm attaching my very varied results here.

I'm hoping to get a few things uploaded tomorrow but (in true Gixermouse form) I might be distracted by something with two wheels and an engine :(

Anyone wanna test some?!

Where is the android driver folder located?

Ok.I literally don't even know how I can possibly make this as simple as possible for you to understand. But I will try.If you don't even have a clue what I want after this, you have some serious problems.Ok I explain the help I need as simple as I can possibly explain it.......
I have a modded android4.4.2 rom which is rooted. It was rooted with kingroot.I bought a OTG cable for it.All of my devices such as a USB keyboard and mouse are working just fine. But my USB xbox 360 controller doesn't seem to work.I know that the file that can make it work can be found at /system/usr/keylayout.I extracted the keylayout file from Another device I own.this file is for USB xbox 360 controller.I would like to know if I need more files for this controller to work or do I need to look in another path for the file, for this controller to work.Right now I only have 1 keylayout file for android xbox controllers but when I add it to the keylayout folder and I restart my device, the controller doesn't respond. Will joystick center work to configure the settings. Can anyone please help me.If you have no idea what I just explained to you please visit your doctor . seriously.I don't know what I can do to make it easier for you to understand.Half the people who read this are like:WTF is this guy saying What does he want. The other half of the people have serious mental problems. All I am asking is if I need more files (drivers) for my android tablet for my xbox 360 controller to work so I can use it.Doesnt get more simple then that.If your not gonna respond you have to go to a doctor.Because what is the point of me posting threads here if nobody's gonna help me.I could just use gsm-hosting instead because their support is better then this site. This site never helped me once.

Any chance of a Custom ROM?

Hey all,

So my mother has an iPad 4 at the moment. She's had it since the day it's came out, and loves it. One of my younger siblings ended up cracking it, and it's starting to act weird. As it's not functioning properly, she's decided to replace it. Now, over the years I've told her about how much better Android is, trying to convince her that it's the superior OS. She hasn't listened thus far, and still has her iPad. However, she is about to get an Android tablet after all.

My father recently won a Amazon Fire HD 10 in a contest and is gifting it to my mom. Now, I'm aware that the Amazon Fire's screen and specs are a bit crap, but it's free (and she probably won't mind anyway). However, the OS is what I'm worried about. Amazon is known for having a horrid skin on top of Android, even going as far as to replace Google's Services with their own. I don't want this to be her first impression of Android, as Amazon's OS is far from what Android can really do. With that said, I was curious if anyone is perhaps developing a Stock Android/CyanogenMod ROM for the Fire HD 10. In order to get a custom ROM running on this tablet, we first need a custom recovery (such as CWM, TWRP, etc.). I'm aware that the $50 Fire Tablet has both a custom recovery and Custom ROMs, but that tablet has much more interest due to the price point. Now, I'd try to do some of this process myself, but I unfortunately know nothing about porting Custom ROMs/Custom Recovery's myself. I do know my way around ADB/Fastboot and have some minor Linux knowledge, but that's about it.

The tablet is already on it's way (it's currently shipping), so I'd be able to test any ROMs once I receive it myself. Now, I know that this is a tall task, but if anyone is up for it I'd be eternally grateful.

Quote:

the psn derived from the CID may be used for critical services changing this psn may cause unexpected behaviour or loss of services continue at your own risk, you've been warned
I asked this question somewhere else and it was overlooked.

What does that warning mean exactly?

I'm concerned with what happens when/if Verizon notices a whole bunch of phones on their network with the same CID. Could they one command lockout that CID and all the devices with the CID?

I can't find anything about exactly what the CID is and what for it is used.

Am I just being over paranoid?

Definitive Android solution to encrypt device, with pattern / pin unlock?

Anyone know if there's a definitive way of doing this? Or if Google intend to address this in the future for Android devices?
I hate to reference Apple but I can pin or fingerprint unlock an iphone 5s, yet the contents of the phone are entirely encrypted. If I plug it into a PC it's not accessible unless the display is unlocked.

With Android though, I need to enter a huge encryption password. I've found a couple of very old guides but none of them seem to be up to date and many responses to the guides imply they don't work.
I'd love to encrypt my Note 2 and my SD card :/ but I don't want to enter a password to unlock it for every day use :/

Surely Google will be looking at an easier solution long term for this?

Random problems (bricks every 2 weeks, no wifi, no sim/sensors detected)

Hi!

My Nexus 5 device seems to have many issues, some that I have resolved, some that appeared next. Here is some history.

- The first issue that I had was that some sensors were not detected, and the others were not working. Sensor testing applications found some of them (but they didn't work), and others like the accelerometer didn't even show up in the list.
- For a couple of months now, once in a while (at each ~2 weeks), I find my Nexus 5 powered off, and bricked (the boot process stops at the Google logo)
- Each time, flashing the original images worked (simply using flash-all.sh)
- After one of these flashes, I had no wifi. Flashing the original image did not work. Rooting/installing TWRP recovery, erasing cache, etc. did not work. I finally got it to work by installing a custom ROM, and never understood why it worked.
- Device bricked again, flashed the original image back. Wifi still works, but no SIM card detected. Absolutely no sensors are detected. The device reboots after a couple of minutes. This is where I am now.

What I tested so far :
- Rooting the device, running e2fsck on the partitions, some of them showed errors. None of them show bad sectors.
- Moving the content of /persist (to try to fix the SIM card problem)
- Flashing custom ROM, stock ROM, old ROM, different radio, etc.
- Removing/inserting the SIM card

I really am out of ideas, does anybody have ideas that I could test? I'm starting to think that I have an hardware issue but I still hope to repair the device... The issues started to appear right after the guarantee was expired.

RUU Error 155 despite relocked bootloader

Phone specs:
Code:

RELOCKED
M8_UL PVT SHIP S-OFF
CID-11111111
HBOOT-3.16.0.0000
RADIO-1.23.213311491.05G

OS-4.20.531.4 (1.54.401.5)
eMMC-boot 2048MB

So I'm trying to update my One M8, and I think I messed up pretty bad. I tried running the RUU updater for my T-Mobile variant (found on HTC's ROM Download page), but got the infamous "error 155." However, my bootloader is re-locked. Therefore, according to all the forum posts I could find, I shouldn't be getting that error. I've run a few commands since then, including fastboot oem writecid 11111111 and fastboot erase cache. Somehow, I've managed to get to the point where my phone won't even boot into recovery, it just gets stuck at the "Entering recovery..." screen. However, while stuck on this screen, the phone does respond to ADB commands. I can get root shell access, but I'm not sure what to do with it.

I've tried flashing TWRP 3.0.0.0 to no avail. I've tried running fastboot boot <twrp filename here>, also to no avail. I'm pretty much stuck with a phone that only boots into fastboot, and a weird purgatory-recovery where I can achieve shell access. The RUU file fails to update no matter what I do.

Is there a way I can fix this, or have I completely bricked my phone?

Thank you for your time.

Need help, may have bricked my phone flashing BL and CP

I am on the T-Mobile version, and wanted to try a MM ROM. before I could flash the ROM, I needed to update the Bootloader and Modem first, before getting the ROM going.

I think I screwed up

Ok, I flashed the Bootloader zip no problem through Odin, pressing the BL button in Odin and then Start, and everything flashed fine, and rebooted back to my ROM no problem. Then I went to flash the CP modem zip through Odin, I pressed the AL button and then Start, but now it seems to be stuck on the start up screen, just showing me that Samsung Galaxy Note 5 startup screen, and not doing anything else, hmmm ?

Dang, phone is totally ****ed Not sure what I did wrong ? I flashed the Bootloader in Odin, pressing the BL button, and then Start, which worked totally fine, rebooted phone back up no issue. Then I went to flash the CP / modem, but I accidentally pressed the AL button and then Start, rebooted, and the phone just sits at that start up screen forever. I went back to the green screen pressing the Vol Down + Home + Power key, and tried flashing the zip again pressing the CL button and then Start, I reboot, but still hangs on the load screen forever.

MirrorLink and our Galaxy S7

I've got a Pioneer AVH X4700BS receiver in my car that I'm trying to figure out MirrorLink on.
Previously on my Note 3, it simply wasn't possible - I tried a dozen different things from new kernels to different ROMs, but clearly on the S7 those aren't possible without root.

That being said, MirrorLink is built-in on our phones, which I figured would be a slam-dunk. Attach the USB cable from the receiver. turn on MirrorLink via Settings > Wireless & Networks MORE, and press the icon on the receiver screen. It communicates then the receiver says "no compatible apps on your mirrorlink device", but I can push on a "voice" icon on the receiver and I hear Google Now listening for a command on the black screen of my phone, and I hear it through the speakers... so what am I missing here?

The end-goal for me would be to have Google Maps for navigation on the larger touchscreen of the receiver so I don't have to fumble with my phone while driving.
I have no reason other than this to MirrorLink -I'm not going to be watching movies and I can always use bluetooth to listen to my music... I just want MirrorLink working for nav!

Thanks in advance for ideas and info!

Rear Camera Defect?

Hello. I've had my AT&T S7 Edge black onyx for almost 30 days. It's been protected in a spigen case and screen protector since day one.
This morning I noticed the strangest, most annoying issue. When I turned on the rear facing camera, I noticed a black speck on the lower right corner of the screen. At first I thought it was dirt on my screen but that wasn't it. Then I thought there was dirt on the camera, but that wasn't it either. I'm surprised since there is no physical damage to the phone. It looks immaculate so I don't know how this happened. My old S5 took constant beatings but never had issues with the camera.

I've attached two pics. The one pic is cropped and zoomed-in.

I'm going to had to AT&T store and hope I get a replacement. Anyone had a similar issue?

These are the 2 options that I'm leaning towards following:

Android 4.4.3 - STOCK OS - DEBLOATED - 64bit

Android 4.4.3 - STOCK OS - DEBLOATED - 64bit
Hello everyone. Lets jump straight to the point. This here is a backup made with TWRP from the STOCK OS for the HTC Desire 510 64bit. The few plus sides are that is DEBLOATED and that it uses a kernel that has write protection removed. Just a side note: I am trying to make a flashable ZIP for this but I'm having issues. I always get boot loops. So for now this is your only option.
If you are familiar with TWRP and backups and all that stuff you can skip the next parts and download the ROM, If not, I advise you to read carefully the whole thread if you don't want to brick your device.

DISCLAIMER

I'm not responsible if you damage your device in any way!

What is changed?

Not much is changed.
Bellow are the app replacments I made:
1. Sense Home ---> NOVA Launcher
2. Sense Messages ---> Google Messages (Material Design)
3. Sense Calculator ---> Xlythe Calculator (Material Design)
4. Sense Calendar ---> Google Calendar (Material Design)
5. Sense Clock ---> Google Clock (Material Design)
6. Sense File Manager ---> ES File Explorer
7. Sense Weather ---> AccuWeather
4. Sense Keyboard ---> Google Keyboard

I removed a lot of HTCs and Google's useless apps and other things, that are taking up space and resources.
From Google apps you have left:
1. Google Play Store
2. Google Chrome
3. Google Play Games
4. Google Drive
4. YouTube
5. All other background apps and services that are required for the Google apps to function properly.

From HTC apps you have left:
1. Camera app
2. FM Radio
3. Gallery (I couldn't find a decent replacement)
4. Music
5. Photo Editor
6. LockScreen

I have removed the HTC Browser, Zoe, E-mail and other useless stuff from HTC.

I have included:
1. Clean Master Lite - It's much faster than the full blown app and gets the job done. Lots of people hate it but it works like a charm on this device.
2. DiskInfo - With this little app you can see all of the partitions on your device. Regardless if you are S-ON or S-OFF.
3. Glim Lite - A set of beautiful Material design icons for NOVA launcher.

I didn't include an E-mail app because the Play Store is full of them and I couldn't choose. This choice is up to you. ;)

How to install it?

First of all you need an unlocked bootloader with a TWRP - custom recovery installed on your device.

To unlock your bootloader go here http://ift.tt/23UBxw6. Follow that tutorial to get your bootloader unlocked. After a successful unlocking you'll need a custom recovery.
Download this file: http://ift.tt/1rczZzR. This is the latest TWRP recovery for our device. Now we need to flash this file on the device:
Before starting put the contents of the ZIP file on to your SD card. And make sure that it has this folder structure:

Code:

--SD CARD
  --TWRP
    --BACKUPS
--Your device serial number (The name of this folder should be the serial number of your device otherwise TWRP won't see the backups in this folder)
--2016-04-17--13-49-21_KTU84L_release-keys (Don't change this, I don't know what will happen if you do)

1. Power off your device by pulling the battery out and putting it in again.
2. Press the Volume Down and Power Buttons until you see the HBOOT screen.
3. Press the Power button again to enter Fastboot mode.
4. Connect your phone with your PC using an USB cable.
5. Now open your terminal (I'm using Ubuntu but it's same in Windows as well) and type:
Code:

fastboot devices
This will show you an output like this:
Code:

--your devices serial number--              fastboot
If it doesn't show you an output like that then you probably didn't install the drivers correctly or you have a faulty USB cable.
If your output is the same as above than we can move on.
This command will flash the TWRP recovery on your device:
Code:

fastboot flash recovery /full/path/to/the/recovery.img
Example:
Code:

fastboot flash recovery /home/denny/Downloads/twrp-3.0.2-0-a11ul.img
Now you have TWRP on your device.
To boot TWRP press the Power button to go back to the HBOOT screen and navigate to the RECOVERY option with the volume keys and again press the Power button. After a few seconds you'll see your new recovery.

Restoring the backup

First we need to wipe any potential data that will cause conflicts with the new system.
1. Tap on "Wipe"
2. Tap on "Advanced Wipe"
3. Select all but leave the Micro SDCard option unchecked.
4. Swipe the slider to wipe the data.

After that is complete press on the house button on the lower end of the screen.
Now we are going to restore the backup:

1. Tap on the "Restore" button.
2. At the lower left corner tap on "Select Storage" button.
3. Choose "Micro SDCard" option and press OK.
4. Now you should see the backup folder. Open it.
5. Select "Boot" and "System" and swipe to start the restoring process.
6. Press "Reboot System" after the restoring has finished.

After you setup you system apply the Glim Lite icon pack to NOVA launcher.
Bellow are some screenshots of the new look.

Big thanks to:

@rbheromax - for making a kernel with write protection removed.

Did Google's Shenzhen factory steal my credit card no. from my 'Live Case' order?

I'm going to simply present a few facts and see if I am the only one reaching the same conclusion.

1. On 14 April 2016 I ordered the first of 2 "Live Cases" for the Nexus 6P, and the order was sent to Google's factory.

2. On 16 April 2016 I received an alert from my bank (which never happens) asking me to review suspicious transactions:

These were the transactions, all in the city of "Shenzhen", China, including a hotel stay costing me $1,892:

Plotting the locations on a map shows where the fraudster traveled between:

3. On 18 April 2016 I received a tracking update from Google revealing the order had shipped from "Shenzhen", China. In addition, the tracking website displayed a map of the pick-up location (presumably the Google factory). Note the proximity of the pick-up pushpin to the fraudulent purchases above:

Obviously setting up my new card everywhere has been hugely inconvenient, not to mention nearly being defrauded by some $2000.

I have notified the Google Store team and await their response. I will update this thread if anything of substance comes back from them.

Having a difficult time rooting NXT-L29

Hello! So I've tried many different methods to root my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-L29. I've even attempted using Rayglobe's Italian Knife tool and i only got as far as installing and accessing TWRP at which i got lost because it wanted a password for something. I'm tech savvy, but not familliar with android as much as I am with Windows so i gave up on that only to wipe my phone by accident. I'd like to try again if I could get some help... Could someone list some steps for me? I got lost because Rayglobe had some very loose translations on the page for his tool. Things got complicated to the point where i was trying to figure out what I was doing on my own. If any information is required I'll post it here. I hope the kindness of strangers helps me through this. Haven't had that hard of a time since Kingo Root worked for all my other devices.

What is the correct custom recovery to root the new 6.01 update?

I have tried several versions of custom recoveries to flash via Odin to root the new tmobile 6.01 fireward that was released today and have not had any luck so far.

So far I have tried using the recommended versions of twrp 3.0.2-0 with no luck:

Has anybody successfully rooted with the 6.01 T-mobile firmware that was released today? If so could you please provide a link with the exact custom recovery file you used.

CM13 USB OTG TiBU Question

I recently purchased a 64GB USB/OTG combo flash drive, but having trouble using it as my backup drive for Titanium Backup.

Currently on Nexus 6 CM13 nightly 20160412. The phone actually mounts the USB without the help of Stickmount, and is visible to both the Android system AND ES File Explorer, but it just can't be seen by Titanium Backup. Anyone have a solution? I've tried with and without Stickmount, but Stickmount actually doesn't seem to make any difference in anything.

And actually, now that I try, it won't mount on TWRP either. It's formatted NTFS. Unfortunately my computer is on Windows 10 and will only format in NTFS or exFAT and my phone/ES File Explorer wouldn't even recognize the OTG Flash drive when it was formatted in exFAT.

DocChat

Description
Consult with a licensed, emergency-experienced physician in 15 minutes, through video. Available 24 hours, every day.

Did you know almost 75% of doctor visits can be handled without a doctor ever seeing you?

And while your doctor may perform a physical exam on you, 95-97% of physical exams are normal.

Going to the doctor can be a hassle. It disrupts your day, it takes away from your family, it may cost you lost wages at work, and worst of all, you still have to pay for your copay and cover your deductible.

If that wasn't bad enough, you can't see them at night during late hours.

What insurance companies don't tell you is that only around 10% of people actually cover their deductibles each year. That means that you pay hundreds of dollars each month for health insurance that will likely NEVER pay a dime back to you. You're responsible for your copay and the doctor visit!

DocChat has a flat price of $50 to see a doctor (with unlimited subscriptions available), so you won't have to worry about whether your insurance is going to cover your doctor visit.

How many times have you forgotten to ask your doctor a question or forgot how to take your medication? DocChat allows you to follow-up with your doctor for free after your visit. Other companies will be happy to charge you for another visit.

Some benefits of DocChat:

- Available 24/7
- No time limit to each consultation. Other telemedicine apps limit your time to as little as 10 minutes
- Ask unlimited follow-up questions to your doctor after the video consultation. You even get her phone number!
- Prescriptions sent to a pharmacy closest to you
- We call you back to check on your progress after your visit
- Our mission is to do the right thing for the patient, even at great expense to ourselves.

Is telemedicine legal?

Yes! Most states allow a doctor to establish a patient-provider relationship through a video visit. That means your DocChat doctor is as liable for your care and well-being as a doctor you would see in person would be.

What can my doctor do on a telemedicine visit?

Your doctor can prescribe medication (non-narcotics), diagnose your condition, or refer you to the appropriate specialty. If you need a note for work or school, we can provide that as well.

DocChat doctors are available for you if you have a question, forgot how to take your medication, or if you're simply not feeling better. You can IM them through the app or call their personal phone numbers.

DocChat is available in CT, DC, FL, GA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MT, NJ, NY, PA, VA, WA, HI, and expanding to other states.

UK S6 Edge unlocking

Hi all!

I've recently been offered a Samsung S6 Edge 128GB for a really good price.

The problem is it is network locked to o2 network.

Can i network unlock my S6 Edge without rooting the device? If so can this be done without upsetting KNOX?

I overheard somebody saying you could alter the bootloader to do this?

Ideally i would like the standard Samsung software/firmware rather than o2 networks modified version. That way i have unlocked handset free of o2 apps and images at boot. Is this possible?

Device: SM-G925F
OS: 6.0.1

Video Showing Galaxy S7 Inferior to Note 5 in Gear VR

I have tried 3 different S7 and one of my friends S7edge and all 4 have been inferior in their quality and visuals in gear vr (this also seems at least to me to carry over to non vr use as well) So i decided to capture video and show a comparison between the s7 and note 5 in gear vr especially while playing gunjack, but this happens in all apps and games to some degree but its noticeably worse in gunjack. I didnt play as long with the s7 because the flicker makes me nauseous.

S7

Note5

Also I did two more videos showing how the GS7 fails to render edges as smooth and clear as the note5, these are best viewed on mobile devices but are also easily noticed on pc platforms. Please forgive the watermark at the beginning. Please full screen to fairly compare the two.

S7

Note5

I have even compared the S6 and it performs better graphically although it overheats faster.

Any thoughts?

Removing FireOS 5.1.2 and replacing with stock Lollipop?

Hi there,

I've been cruising these forums for a while and have managed to root my device, get adb setup, and TWRP installed. An unfortunate bit seems to be that you cannot leave TWRP installed and actually boot the device. I managed to get stuck in a boot loop having not restored the 5.4.1 bootloaders. I turned the device off and rebooted into TWRP, flashed the 5.4.1 bootloaders, rebooted, and I'm golden. However, this doesn't really get me anywhere.

So my goal here is to just wipe all this FireOS crap and turn this tablet into a normal android tablet. I've seen plenty of posts about it but cannot seem to find any single post that would achieve this for my specific device and software version. So I'm coming here for help.

Mostly, what I have done so far has come from this thread: http://ift.tt/1WuDPiL

Unfortunately, from what I can tell, this process does not remove FireOS and replace it with stock Lollipop, it just updates you to 5.1.2 (which I'm already at) and installs GAPPS. It does not really have a "pure" Android install and it somehow retains the FireOS as the primary OS.

Now, please correct me if I am wrong here with any of the above (this is not a hobby of mine) but since I've rooted a few devices before I figured I could handle it. It seemed like a bargain getting this Fire HD 7 used for like $64... if only I can get it onto stock Android. I'm basically trying to make it a Nexus 7.

Since I CAN get into TWRP, I figure I should just be able to flash a custom ROM right? I've just been having a really hard time finding a stock Lollipop ROM specifically for my device. From what I've heard, flashing the new ROM is the most error-prone part of this type of stuff and can totally brick the device if it were not meant for it. If that did happen, I would need to be able to boot the device back up, get an adb connection, run the scripts that flash the correct bootloaders (post #2, section 101, from the link above) so I can reboot into TWRP and fix it. Perhaps understandably so, I've been very hesitant to just go trying things willy-nilly that I don't fully understand.

Could anyone offer any assistance? Perhaps just point me in the right direction? I've probably read most of the threads you'll likely link, so a short bit of context to how something pertains to my specific device as well as the link could help me significantly. The guides that people write usually contain updates and are quite difficult to follow to the "T" and half the time I'm not even sure something I'm doing actually pertains to my device.

[EDIT] I found this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c5hHSCO_o8) but it looks like he's doing that on a previous generation Fire so, again, I'm not sure it will work and don't want to try and then brick it.

[FIX] Marshmallow Default PC MTP Connection Tools

Want to change the default PC connection from "Charge Only" to "MTP Connect" ?
Well you can't.. Apparently the Android dev's decided they know better than you.
But i found a solution :good:

First off, we have MTPenabler
I tested this myself on my Moto-E 2015 and it worked PERFECT !

It was made by one of our XDA forum users and he has a topic for it here where you can get it.
XDA - [APP][ROOT][R 3.2.1][MARSHMALLOW] MTP enabler
That page has a Free XDA version i was able to download from Android FIleHosting and test out.
The version i tested was easy to use..
I clicked install then went into the options and selected hide Notification Bar Icon.
Exactly what i was looking for !

So visit the XDA topic to get the FREE version
and / or get the Pro / Donation version that costs $1.90 found on this Store page.. Google Play - MTP enabler PRO Marshmallow

I also found another similar Tool called, Use USB for Marshmallow
Go here for Store page --> Google Play - Use USB for Marshmallow
This tool says it's Free and it also says it has In App-Purchases.
This tool is an Exposed module.
Since i have not used Exposed before i can not test the 2nd tool.

NOTE:
Both methods require ROOT access.

No more plugging in the phone then waiting for the Charging only connection mode to kick in,
then unlocking the phone.. then swiping down on the notification Bar.. then hitting the Connection Mode Notification
then selecting "MTP Connect" ..then waiting for the phone to disconnect & reconnect using the new mode.

Thanks Android dev's.. you so smart :silly:
and a REAL Thanks to XDA & bitstra

If you all see any tools that work for the Moto-2015 please post them or even a config option hack.
