HTC Desire 12 Specifications Confirmed by Retail Box

If you're a fan of HTC's mid-range devices, you've likely heard of its Desire series in the past. The company has refreshed the Desire lineup every year like clockwork, which is a good thing for folks on a budget — mid-range devices have become increasingly better over the years. Rumor has it that HTC's working on a new one dubbed the HTC Desire 12, and now, thanks to a leak of the phone's retail packaging, we have some information about its hardware.

Assuming the specs printed on the box are accurate, the HTC Desire 12 will come with a 5.5-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) 18:9 display and a 64-bit MediaTek system-on-chip with four cores. It'll also have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD slot.

The front of the device will house a 5MP selfie camera, and the back will feature a 12MP PDAF camera module capable of shooting 1080p video. The Desire 12 will have two nano SIM slots (which makes sense, given that HTC sells Desire phones all over the world), and it'll be powered by a 2,730mAh battery. Other highlights include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 4G LTE, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Earlier this month, Evan Blass published some specs for the HTC Desire 12 (codenamed "Breeze" internally). Most of the specs he leaked are identical to what is printed on the leaked retail box except for the RAM and storage capacity — Mr. Blass's sources told him the phone would have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The information could be incorrect, or it might point to the existence of a second variant of Desire 12 with different RAM and storage capacities.

The Desire 12's release date hasn't been revealed yet, but the fact that the retail box is already being manufactured is a pretty good sign it'll launch in the coming weeks or months.
