What's in the Apple64.zip file?

Hi,

I am trying to understand how to root my Kindle Fire 5th generation. However, I don't understand the purpose of downloading and installing the Apple64.zip file on my Mac. Can someone please explain what this file does, what's in the zip file, and what I need to run in the "stuff" directory. I'm scared of messing up my MacBook Air by running something I don't understand.
