LG's previous and older flagship series, the G series used to be the best the company could offer to the smartphone market. A couple of years ago they launched a new flagship series, the V series, and with it they were able to offer a bit more. The V series from LG has been marketed as one that is designed for media makers (with its focus on camera and microphone quality) as well as media consumers (with the enhanced DAC they use). Early this morning the company published a blog post that details the HiFi quad DAC they'll be using in the LG V30.
LG has been revealing tidbits of the LG V30 for quite a while now. This started when they confirmed the 6″ FullVision OLED panel they decided to go with. Then continued when they revealed details about the camera and its "LG Crystal Clear" lens. They also published a press release to talk about the world they had done to improve haptic feedback as well. The company is also known for sharing changes that are coming to their LG UX software, and that information was published a couple of week ago too.
Today, LG has decided to reveal some of the details about the digital-to-analog converter they decided to go with for the LG V30. The 2-bit advanced HiFi quad DAC is powered by ESS Technology's SABRE ES9218P. While most of its features are similar to what we saw last year with the LG V20, they did confirm there would be two new features included in this version. One of these features is its digital filters and the other is the sound presets that will come with the software.

LG says that digital filters are normally only available in expensive digital audio players and their goal is to improve the pre- and post-ringing of the impulse response. These filters should let you customize this until it fits your personal taste. The company then says they created 4 optimal pre-programmed settings for the sound presets they're offering. This includes enhanced, detailed, live and bass and should give the user an improved audio experience even with regular audio equipment.
